' recently-released third album "A Daily Reminder" continues the revival of classic-style songwriting with a jazzy pop/rock/vocal theme. The tag team of Melinda and Scott Towe started in Athens in the late 80s with the group Red Letter Day, then evolved into The Carlisles in the 90s. Since 2012, Check The Signs (featuring son Mason on drums and daughter Lauren on keyboard) has released three albums and developed into a complete four-person songwriting unit. The new album was produced by Nate Nelson at Tweed Recording, pressed by Echo Base, and is available at Wuxtry Records. That trifecta makes the group about as "Athens-local" as it gets.
