About the event

All Aboard: The Adventures of Miss Ratcliff

Award winning author and Iowa native, Elaine McAllister, will be at the library to talk about her latest book of generational storytelling, All Aboard: The Adventures of Miss Ratcliff. Based on Elaine’s Grandmother, All Aboard tells the story of a pioneer school teacher who took a year off in 1913 to travel West. After returning, she married and moved to what is now West Des Moines and eventually to Winterset in the 1960's where they lived into their 90’s.
Come learn about Miss Ratcliff’s adventures, the pioneer life of the Western United States, and stories of Quaker settlers in Kansas in the late 1800's.
