CR SNEAK PEAK:
Step # 5: We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed” (James 5:16).
Step 5 is an important step for every one of us, whether in the program or not. Most times we don’t see our wrongs or don’t want to believe that we are flawed people.
It is not until we take a moral inventory (Step 4), that we discover our character defects, all our shortcomings, and the sin in our lives that hold us back from living the most fruitful life.
1 John 1:8-9 says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
When we can admit to ourselves, and to another, when we are wrong, that is when we will begin to grow and clean out the baggage we’ve buried so deep.
“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Eph. 5:13-14 ).
