Hello Everyone!
I am planning to kayak at the Skokie Lagoons on Friday, October 3rd, and would like to welcome anyone who wants to join! You can rent a kayak (single or tandem) or canoe through Chicago River Paddle, which offers hourly rentals that include life jackets and paddles.
The rentals are hourly, and pricing is as follows:
Canoe - $30
Single Kayak - $25
Tandem Kayak - $ 35
For each additional hour beyond the first hour is $20
You will need to bring an ID that the staff will hold onto while you are out on the water. You should also consider bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a small waterproof bag (if possible). You shouldn't get too wet; most water comes from drips off the paddle, but you can never be too careful!
The boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They open at 9 a.m., so I have us meeting at 9:30 a.m. to try to ensure everyone can get what they need. If people prefer to meet at 9:00 a.m. instead, we can discuss adjusting our start time.
You will be able to see a wide variety of wildlife, including fish, numerous bird species, and even turtles.
