Sapphic Night -2nd Wednesday of Every Month
6-11 PM • Temple Ballroom (986 Ouellette Ave)
Free to attend, donations go back into the pot to treat ourselves
We do this in style.
Sapphic Night lives inside a real 1920s heritage ballroom — the Temple Ballroom, in the historic Masonic Temple at Erie & Ouellette. The building is a three-storey red brick Neo-Classical Revival beauty with limestone trim, completed in the early 1920s and now protected under the Ontario Heritage Act. It’s been carefully kept close to its original state, with a gorgeous hardwood dance floor and all those old-world details that make photos (and memories) glow.
Last time, we had the big karaoke screen up and the nice mics ready… and nobody touched them. It turned into a hunkered-down, deep-laughter night instead — exactly what people needed.
Here’s what you’re walking into:
• Free to attend — truly free.
• Donations go straight back into the “treat ourselves” fund: more craft supplies, cozy touches, little surprises.
• Free coffee, no alcohol. (Bring a mug if you can.)
• Crafting tables ready to go.
• Big screen & karaoke mics waiting in case the courage (or chaos) hits UPON PRIOR REQUEST (it takes a bit to set up, but is worth it).
• Comfy seating areas where you can talk, people-watch, or just quietly exist. Lost of pillows, and spots to get comfortable.
If you message me in time and there’s interest, I’ll hit the dollar store for extra craft bits so we can make something ridiculous and/or beautiful together.
I know it’s a busy season. That’s exactly why you should come see what everyone’s been talking about: girl-on-girl love, queer community, and the relief of being fully yourself in a room full of people who get it.
Ideas welcome:
Want to do a couple of monologues? I’ve got you a podium.
Want a small writing circle, a queer book chat, or a low-key show-and-tell of your art? Say the word. This night is meant to be shaped by the people in it.
Sapphic Night is:
• A safe place.
• A place for us.
• An ongoing experience- you can count on a January evening and beyond.
And if one night a month isn’t enough, I can host things during the daytime too. Just reach out.
Come for the heritage ballroom glow, stay for the soft chairs, kind faces, and the feeling of belonging.
