PD Day at AWE: Painting Adventures

Youth ages 6-12 are invited to the gallery for a full day of hands-on artmaking, exhibition tours, and outdoor activities. Each PD Day focuses on a different artistic technique and medium, giving participants the chance to learn new skills, explore the galleries, and spark their imagination in our education studio!

The program is led by AWE’s team of Artist Educators and includes both guided and self-guided activities. Our programs include art-making activities in the studio, guided lessons, lunch and snack break and outdoor play.

Explore colour, brushwork, and mixed media as you create your own artworks inspired by the gallery’s collection and current exhibitions! Campers will experiment with a variety of techniques from washes to blending, to bring their ideas to life on paper and canvas.

What You’ll Learn:

• Sketching your ideas: Plan your composition with preliminary sketches
• Acrylic painting: Learn to layer, blend, and build with acrylics.
• Technique building: Explore bold lines, washes, and textures using inks and watercolours.
• And so much more: mixed-media and pastels, collaborative games and art challenges.
