Canadian composer Jordan Pal’s edgy Upwell – described as the natural process that lifts nutrient-rich waters to the surface and fuels new life and growth. Upwell was written for a digital performer and orchestra. It brings together new technology and traditional music. This concert also features Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No. 8 – a powerful piece of music, mixing intense, dramatic moments with beautiful, subtle movements.

Jordan Pal’s work is rooted in classical music; he is also versatile across various genres, including film music, electronic music, and contemporary music.
Best known for The Lark Ascending, Ralph Vaughan Williams wrote nine symphonies, operas, and film scores, and was an avid collector of English folk songs. He also served in World War I as an officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
