Morning Session – Winter Swimming Safety
Half-day session prepares you for swimming safely in extreme cold water.
You’ll learn:
How to stay safe in winter conditions
Choosing the right kit
Recognising and managing cold-related illnesses
Risk assessing swim spots
How to keep a cold swimmer warm
What to do in an emergency & what kit to carry
Followed by a dip / swim in the lake to put it all into practice.
Afternoon Session – Swimming Safety & First Aid
In water in the lake to start with and then in a classroom
You’ll learn:
CPR & using a defibrillator
Basic first aid for swimmers
Safe techniques to rescue another swimmer (throws & towing)
How to keep a swimmer warm while waiting for emergency help
This is a basic first aid qualification and a certificate.
