Alberto has just been approved by the VA Hospital in Chicago and is now at the top of the list for a kidney transplant.
Despite being in dialysis 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, Alberto continues to work and show up for others with a smile. He never complains, but behind the scenes, he’s endured serious complications — including heart issues, extreme weight loss, and constant exhaustion. Still, he gets up every day, dances, spreads joy, and makes the best of his life.
Now, as he reaches a critical point in his journey, he finally has a real chance to get the transplant that will save his life. But he needs our help.
Although the VA covers his flight and hospital stay, it does not cover any of the living expenses required for his 6–8 week recovery in Chicago. This includes housing, meals, transportation, and basic care while he heals far from home.
