Balsam Bashing

The Cartmel Fell Volunteers will be doing battle with some more Himalayan Balsam!

At 2pm on Wednesday 11th June the Volunteers are Balsam Bashing on Cartmel Fell - but this time not at the Parish Hall.

If you have an hour or so spare on Wednesday, then please let us know and meet us roadside in front of the Hare & Hounds (park away from the pub if possible, please!)

We can teach you how to identify this invasive non-native species, and try to ensure it doesn't spread and take over the Fell.

Himalayan Balsam was introduced to Britain as an ornamental garden plant, but as pretty as it is, due to its ability to spread its seeds far and wide and grow very tall it is now considered a problematic W**d, particularly along watercourses.
