Global Peace Pole Day Ceremony 2025

You're invited to join the Rotary Club of Winder and the Barrow Area Rotary Club for a ceremony honoring Global Peace Pole Day! The message "May Peace Prevail On Earth" was authored by the late Masahisa Goi of Japan after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is now an international message of peace with over 250,000 Peace Poles around the world, dedicated as monuments to peace.

A Peace Pole is a monument intended to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
They display the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in the language of the country where it is placed. Each Peace Pole usually displays 3 to 7 additional languages meaningful to the host site, our community Peace Pole at Winder Legacy Park has 5 different languages. The message is referred to as an affirmation of peace and its placement furthers Rotary's goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.

We will share a moment of silence followed by some quotes about peace and unity! If you have a quote or short message you'd like to share, please feel free to bring it along.
