About The Asylum
The Randolph County Asylum, also known as the Randolph County Infirmary and Poor Farm, has a long history dating back to 1851. Initially built to house the indigent and mentally or physically handicapped, it operated as a self-sustaining 350-acre farm. Over the years, the asylum underwent several transformations, including a rebuild after a fire in 1857 and a major expansion in 1899.
Today, the abandoned asylum is known for its paranormal activity. Visitors report disembodied footsteps, moving dolls, and shadow figures. The sounds of children laughing and a tricycle moving on its own have also been heard. The asylum's eerie history and ghostly tales have made it a popular spot for paranormal investigations.
