We are now offering open enrollment for our only Canine Good Citizen Prep class of 2025!
What is a Canine Good Citizen?
The Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the standard of behavior for dogs in our communities. It is a 10-skill evaluation that ensures a dog has good manners in multiple situations and responsible dog ownership by their owners. The 10 test items on the CGC test are practical, functional behaviors that every dog should have to be welcomed in the community.
The test items are: accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, appearance and grooming, loose leash walking, walking through a crowd, sit/down/stay on cue, recall, reaction to another dog, reaction to distractions and supervised separation. Upon completing the class we will have a certified AKC CGC evaluator come in and test each dog team (date/time/location - TBD) to earn your AKC Canine Good Citizen certification!
