Bird and Nature Walk along Whitmore Brook, Winchester and Medford

About the Outing Leaders: Both Tinie and Julia have been trained as guides for Winchester Trails, which provides nature walks to Winchester elementary children.

About the Outing: Join us as we explore the trails along Whitmore Brook and the hills above it, looking for fall migrant and resident birds, wildflowers, and fungi. We will pass through several distinct plant communities—red maple swamp, mature oak forest, a burned hillside, and an old field—which should attract a variety of birds.

This walk is appropriate for beginning and intermediate birders. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

We’ll meet at the Winford Way entrance to the Fells, next to 59 Winford Way (at the junction of Winford Way, Town Way, and Clearwater) in Winchester. Parking is available on Winford Way, Town Way, and Clearwater.
