- Identify soil types, their physical properties and the effect of texture and structure on soil fertility
- Master soil analysis techniques including key metrics to benchmark soil health
- Understand the importance of organic matter and pH in how they influence nutrient availability and uptake by plants

- Recognise the important role of mycorrhizal fungi in vineyards
- Assess the Cation Exchange Capacity of your soil
- Understand the function and benefits of a soil food web
- Review the ways water moves through the soil and how to avoid soil leaching
- Assess and identify the right cover crops for your vineyard per soil type and condition
- Explore various techniques for W**d management
- Discover ways to replenish soil health through composting, mulch and under-vine grazing
This workshop will include a practical session, including the process of digging a soil pit for the purpose of:
- Assessing soil texture and structure (VESS test)
- Counting earthworms
- Conducting Slake tests
- Observing rooting depth and penetration
- Observing rhizosheaths
