Think Like a Tree (Tree ID)

Learn basic tree identification skills by learning how to “think like a tree” using dichotomous keys. Naturalist Alex Swavely will guide you through the basic skills you’ll need to identify trees in the area! We will begin with short instructions in the environmental center’s classroom on tree anatomy and dichotomous keys, followed by a short hike to practice our new identification skills. All participants will receive a dichotomous key packet to help them identify common trees in Lancaster! Lancaster County Park Tree Guides will be available to purchase for $4.00 if you would like one. Register online or call (717) 295-2055 to register and prepay by noon on Friday, October 3. $3.00 per person.
