If you own a Williamsburg JCC Indivisible T-shirt, please wear it. We would love to take a large group photo.
DON'T FORGET COLD BEVERAGES AND SNACKS. WE WILL HAVE ICE AND A LIMITED AMOUNT OF WATER AT THE TABLE NEAR THE SPEAKERS. PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THE WEATHER, AND BRING A CHAIR IF NEEDED. WHATEVER CONTAINER YOU BRING HOLDING YOUR ESSENTIALS, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED!
In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. We already rejected a Mad King - George III. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies.
🚨On Saturday, June 14, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind. 🚨 Where: Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, 5201 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, VA. 23188 from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
🚨 Our speakers include: Candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 71st District, Jessica Anderson; Candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 69th District, Dr. Mark Downey; Candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 86th District, Virgil Thornton, Sr.; Cyanne Yates, Founding Member of Indivisible Essex and the Chair of the Essex·Richmond County Democrats; Retired U.S. Army Colonel, Herb Jones; Retired U.S. Army Colonel, Ramon Tony Nadal; Retired U.S. Army Platoon Sergeant, Stan Scott; U.S. Army Veteran and R.N., Tina Christensen-Parman; U.S. Navy Battalion Surgeon attached to the U.S. Marines, Dr. Deborah Fabian; U.S. Navy Veteran, Dalilia Winkowski; Former U.S. Marine and Professor of Philosophy, Jason Moulenbelt.
THE NATIONAL ORGANIZERS FOR THIS EVENT ARE ASKING EVERYONE TO PLEASE NOT ATTEND ANY PROTESTS IN WASHINGTON, DC ON JUNE 14TH. PROTEST IN DC ANY OTHER DAY BUT JUNE 14TH. TRUMP WILL SAY PROTESTERS ARE ANTI-ARMY, NOT ANTI-TRUMP. HE WILL ALSO CLAIM PROTESTERS IN HIS CROWD SIZE. WE KNOW SIZE MATTERS TO HIM, SO LET’S SHOW THE WORLD JUST HOW SMALL HE REALLY IS BY NOT CONTRIBUTING TO THAT NUMBER!!!
June 14th is FLAG DAY! The flag doesn’t just belong to Donald Trump and MAGA. It belongs to all of us. We will celebrate "Old Glory", our flag that represents our Democracy, as we claim the Red White and Blue for all!!! We will also celebrate all those who fought for our flag in uniform, our VETERANS, and those who fought on the home front and are still fighting on the home front, our "Angels of Democracy".
In that spirit of celebrating Flag Day, we will have a sing-a-long of “It’s A Grand Old Flag”. In case you have forgotten the lyrics, here they are -
“You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave. Every heart beats true 'Neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. Should old acquaintance be forgot,Keep your eye on the grand old flag.”
🚨 On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t (we will NOT be in D.C.)—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
🚨🚨This event is being hosted by Williamsburg JCC Indivisible, Indivisible Essex and the Essex·Richmond County Democrats.
📢 How to Prepare for Your Event:✅ Bring signs or props, including small handheld American Flags (we have a few hundred to distribute - it’s flag day after all!) → Make your message visible! It's a good rule of thumb to create signs that do not use sticks or anything else for support that can be perceived as a weapon.✅ Poster Boards and other supplies can be purchased at the Dollar Tree (one of the companies that still has a DEI policy.)

COMMUNITY NORMS:
Please read before attending one of our events.
One of our main objectives is to host PEACEFUL, RESPECTFUL and SAFE EVENTS. Remember, when attending a Williamsburg JCC Indivisible event, your actions represent our group, and you are expected to conform to the Community Norms. Safety is a top priority for our attendees. We wish to remind everyone that we do not react to those drivers who make it clear they do not support us by aggravating them through screaming obscenities or making certain hand gestures. We do not want to enrage them and potentially make everyone, including other drivers, less safe. It is easier to wave at everyone and say, “Have a nice day”.
At our events, please do not hold signs or otherwise promote other events that Williamsburg JCC Indivisible is not hosting. You may be placing a potential legal liability onto our group that we are NOT willing to accept.
Please do not engage in DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOURS! If you are asked to stop engaging in activities which are disrupting an event to the point people are complaining to the hosts that they are experiencing physical or emotional trauma, it is expected that you will be respectful of others and follow our Community Norms and stop those behaviours. Loud noises, such as, but not limited to, cowbells, horns, etc., are usually deployed by counter-protesters to disrupt an event, not by attendees participating in an event. If you refuse to disengage from such thoughtless behaviours, do not ruin the event for everyone else - please be kind and leave!
As with our previous events, the same rules apply. We will not engage with counter-protesters. If an issue arises, please notify one of the event organizers. At larger events, these organizers will be wearing Williamsburg JCC Indivisible T-shirts with yellow safety vests. We will not engage in any acts of violence or violation of any applicable laws or engage in civil disobedience. All actions will be peaceful. Everyone participating in this event will be required to behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants and will seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We will obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities. Event organizers will not be responsible for any injury or damage if any were to occur during this event. Each individual is responsible for the consequences of their actions and attends at their own risk. We will park in the Courthouse parking lot without blocking access lanes and will remove any trash that is left. We are committed to maintaining public health measures to practice safe protesting during these times. Please wear a mask and socially distance if that makes you more comfortable - weigh your own risk in attending. Follow all local safety guidelines at minimum, and any safety instructions from hosts that exceed local law.
✅ Recruit friends → The more people, the more power.✅ Record everything → Post photos/videos with #NoKings ✅
There are 314 parking spaces behind the Courthouse, including 8 handicap spaces. Behind the Courthouse at Voter Registration and the Court Support buildings, there are another 109 parking spaces. There is also parking across the street from the Courthouse in New Town.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
