Value Vintage combines the high-power rules of the Vintage format with a strict $30 budget cap on the total cost of a player's deck, using TCGplayer Market pricing as the standard. This format allows players to experience Vintage-level gameplay and build powerful decks without the traditional high financial barrier, making it an accessible and popular way to play.
What is the Vintage Format?
Eternal format:
All cards from Magic's history are legal, with only a few exceptions for specific card types.
Restricted list:
Instead of banning cards, Vintage restricts many powerful cards (like Black Lotus) to a single copy per deck.
High power level:
It is considered the most powerful format in Magic due to the unrestricted nature of its card pool.
How does Value Vintage differ?
Budget constraint:
The key difference is the $30 USD budget cap on the entire 75-card deck (60-card main deck + 15-card sideboard).
Accessible power:
Players can use the same powerful cards from the Vintage Banned & Restricted list but must find budget-friendly alternatives or focus on powerful, cheaper cards.
Price tracking:
Deck costs are determined using TCGplayer Market pricing, and deckbuilding websites like Moxfield officially support the format.
Community-driven:
Value Vintage is a popular community-driven format with an active Discord server and numerous tournaments.
