2025 will mark 80 years since VE and VJ Day and on Saturday 10th May, we will celebrate and commemorate the anniversary with an event in Mesnes Park, Wigan, showing our gratitude to the men, women and children who dedicated their lives to the war effort.
Come along with your picnic, blanket and loved ones enjoy music on the bandstand from The Combined Bands of The Lancashire Artillery Volunteers Band and The Band of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment along with the Royal Air Force Air Cadet Band and Anna Beaumont, Golden Age Songbird.
There will also be military vehicles and displays, climbing Wall a fun fair and food & drink stalls.
The event is possible through funding by the Highams' Brothers memorial fund.

We encourage all to please bring picnics, blankets and chairs if required as these will not be provided.
As this event is un-ticketed, prime viewing areas surrounding the bandstand are likely to be very busy and spaces cannot be reserved. We will be monitoring these areas and should they become full we encourage guests to please make use of the lawns and other picnicking spots within Mesnes Park.
Please refrain from bringing glass on site.
Visitors may be subject to searches including bag searches at our discretion with any items deemed to be dangerous confiscated and removed from persons and the event.
Some activities including fairground attractions are chargeable.
Although Menses Park will remain open to usual park visitors during this event we respectfully request that dogs please remain on leads whilst on site.
