We are honoured to welcome four representatives of the Yawanawá people to Vienna.
Together, we will weave a beautiful evening of prayer, song, and dance.
The night begins with Saítis – ancient healing chants that open the heart and invite deep stillness.
As the evening unfolds, guitars and drums will join their voices, inviting us all to rise, dance, and sing together.
Come celebrate joy, ancestral wisdom, and the living heartbeat of the forest.

Pekã Rasu, 55, is a spiritual leader of the Yawanawa and the eldest son of the pajé Yawarani.
He is one of the last three disciples to receive the Muká Samakei directly from his father and has dedicated his life to safeguarding and deepening Yawanawá spirituality.
Carrying his father’s legacy, he tirelessly advances the lineage’s teachings.
With his family’s support, he founded the Pekã Rasu Center—an Amazon-forest —where seekers can enter solitude, undertake initiations, and follow traditional diets.

Paka Shahu, 22, is the daughter of Pekã Rasu.
She was immersed in Yawanawá knowledge from childhood, like her sisters.
Learning from family elders and through time in other villages, she mastered the art of holding ceremonial space with her music and presence. Touring with her father she deepens the family lineage’s work.

Yawavêne is the eldest son of Pekã Rasu (31).
A young man with a spirit of leadership, he is always at the forefront of the experiences that take place in the village, such as building houses, hunting, keeping the fire, basically taking care of the village and also studying alongside his father the path of Yawanawá spirituality.
Yawavêne is a musical artist and brings his joy, his motivation supporting the culture through his young male strength and energy.

Pakayuwa (Tabita), 32, is Yawavêne’s wife and mother of their four children. The daughter of the renowned Rapé-Master Nainawa, she has walked the spiritual path alongside her husband since youth. Her clear, powerful voice and steady altar presence make her a leading female figure among the Yawanawá.

The Yawanawá are an Indigenous people of Brazil’s Acre state, living along the Gregório River. They are called “the people of the wild boar.” For generations they have thrived in close partnership with the rainforest, resisting rubber-era enslavement and outside pressures to abandon their traditions. Through determined activism, they secured legal recognition of their territory and now steward both their land and a vibrant spiritual culture.
