Senior Wednesday: Mindfulness through Looking and Seated Yoga
August 6, 2025
$2 general public; FREE for WAM Members
10:00 AM | Complimentary coffee and bagels
10:30 AM | Seated or standing yoga program.
◆ Slow down, take a deep breath, and really look. In today’s world—where we’re often asked to be as efficient as possible and our to-do lists keep getting longer—we often overlook the small things or take for granted the tiny magics that make up our every day.
◆ Join Christince for a special morning of yoga poses–seated or standing!–in response to art on view. As you stretch, focus on your breath, and practice mindful looking, you’ll find new ways to connect to WAM’s collection. Christince, who specializes in creating an art-looking experience, combines her skills as a museum teacher with her expertise in teaching yoga for well over a decade, to create this one-of-a-kind experience. Expect to discover not only a new way to look at art but the whole world around you by taking it all one breath at a time. Chairs–if desired—will be provided, and a yoga mat is not necessary.
◆ Christince Vumai has been teaching yoga for over 10 years, with a primary focus on guiding students through the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Drawing from her extensive training with world-renowned teachers, Christince has developed a teaching style that goes beyond physical postures—she creates a mindful space for self-discovery and personal growth.
With a passion for helping individuals uncover their true selves, Christince’s approach is both playful and grounded. She believes in nurturing her students’ confidence and transforming their inner dialogue, allowing them to experience deep emotional and physical transformation.
Yoga has been a part of Christince’s life since her first pregnancy, and her dedication to deepening her practice has continued ever since. Over the years, she has not only honed her yoga skills but also embraced the broader philosophy of mindfulness, integrating it into every aspect of her life and teaching.
As a mother of four, Christince understands the importance of balance and self-care, and she brings this wisdom to her adult classes, encouraging participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and find peace amidst the chaos of everyday life. Whether in the studio or beyond, she helps her students cultivate a mindful practice that enriches their well-being and fosters personal growth.
Christince is thrilled to combine her love of yoga, mindfulness, and art at the Wichita Art Museum, where she offers a unique opportunity for adults to experience mindfulness through art and movement.
