Join Sanctuary Forest on Saturday, August 23 for the Beauty of the Lost Coast Hike: Needle Rock to Bear Harbor, led by retired ranger John Jennings, in the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. Participants will be treated to spectacular views of the rugged coastline, abundant wildlife and plants, and stories about the settler history of Bear Harbor and the Sinkyone Wilderness.
RSVPs are especially recommended for this hike, as hike details and dates are subject to change due to road conditions. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for help with carpooling. Meet at the Sanctuary Forest office in Whitethorn at 9am, the hike will end at Needle Rock between 4 and 5pm. Bring lunch, plenty of water, dress in layers and wear sturdy hiking shoes. The 6-mile hike is listed as rigorous due to length and a series of rolling and steep hills; however, the trail is wide and in fairly good shape.
