Calling all jewellers, crafters, and metal makers alike!
Join goldsmith Allyson Simmie as she brings her unique experience to Whitehorse, offering a workshop that has been a lifetime in the making. Over the course of an entire day, participants will have the ability to learn the use of a goldsmith's suite of tools to be able to shape various metals into the support and decorative pieces needed to complete their vision. Whether it is for the findings behind your next set of earrings, the chain for a perfect pendant, or for further development towards producing rings and bracelets, this is truly a valuable step for artists of any background.
As a special offer associated to this workshop, participants will also receive a 20% discount on their next month of membership at Yukonstruct's Makespace to be able to continue practicing with our tools, be it your first, fifth, or fiftieth month among us.

Her Artist's Statement:
The reward is in the act of observing. Stone colours, textures, the shape of leaves, the ebb and flow of the sea, the changing seasons – all of these things continue to inspire my work. A gesture of thanks and appreciation.
At first it was a technical challenge – to really learn to see the natural world and to develop techniques to capture a sense of it in metal. But as time has passed I am now realizing another purpose: Connection. People connecting to place, places connecting to each other and our shared connection to the world around us.
One of my students said that to me almost 20 years ago. I am still thinking about it.
“The moon casts 3 shadows you know.”
