But anger doesn’t disappear when we bury it. Women describe it simmering, stewing, or coming to a slow boil beneath the surface.
Sometimes this buried anger erupts in ways that feel out of character, other times it leaves the body tense, exhausted, or in pain.
And because few of us learned healthy ways to express anger growing up, we’re left feeling ashamed of it, afraid of it, or convinced it makes us less feminine.
Yet anger is profoundly wise. Like all emotions, it’s feedback, a signal that something matters, needs attention, or that a boundary has been crossed. When we deny anger, we lose access to its message.
