Lucy Hughes and I have been working on a fall prevention workshop.
This will be held on the 18th of March in Overton, St Mary's Church Rooms, Overton, Basingstoke RG25 3HF from 1 to 2.30. The building has easy access.
We will be providing short presentations on the importance of falls prevention at all ages. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and meet other members of the community. Registration to attend is not required, so please come along.
This will include learning techniques to enhance balance and prevent falls, which are vital for maintaining fitness and independence. This program has been developed based on evidence and clinical experience, which have been shown to reduce falls by up to 88%. The exercises are adapted for different fitness levels and health conditions, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their current ability, feels included and safe.
Additionally, strength-based exercises have been proven safe and effective for increasing bone density in areas vulnerable to fractures.
We will also cover what to do if you do fall and how to rebuild your confidence and independence.
Tea and coffee will be provided, along with a free therapy pack. Each pack includes an exercise resistance band, hand putty, a booklet of fall-prevention exercises, and a guide to improving balance and strength.
TBC information regarding nutrition's role in bone density to be provided by Sarah Thomason
So please join us for our upcoming Fall Safety Workshop to stay active and safe! We look forward to seeing you there. All ages welcome; please share if you feel this may benefit others in your community.
