Become a Tyne Derwent Way Climate Champion!

A guided, family wildlife discovery event – children receive their own backpack full of nature goodies to take home!

Climate Champions has been created for young people (with parents/guardians) with a special interest in local wildlife and the natural environment.

Led by ‘Wild Intrigue’ guides, you will discover everything from understanding bird song to winter tree ID, along with top tips to help protect local wildlife.

As part of this free session, each child will receive a Tyne Derwent Way Climate Champions backpack full of naturalist equipment to take home and keep! Each backpack contains specially selected goodies to continue their wildlife discovery, such as easy to use identification guides and RSPB binoculars, which Wild Intrigue will show young Climate Champions how to use during the session.

Beginning at Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre, you will head off on a short wildlife discovery safari, using your Climate Champions backpack equipment to discover and learn about hidden wildlife!

Please note: Suited for young people aged 7 – 12 (key stage 2). Parents/guardians to stay with their child throughout the session. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for the weather forecast.

Places are limited to enable young Climate Champions to explore their wildlife interests with their guide.

If you book a place and are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the place to another young person.
