R.J. Gaudio, Troubadour plays John Denver

Bob Gaudio, the area's Troubadour, is bringing some of the great tunes of John Denver to Lunch With Books on Tuesday, December 30th, at noon. Here's what Bob has to say about one of his favorite, modern singer-songwriters: "I became aware of Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. in 1969 when Peter, Paul and Mary's 'Leaving On A Jet Plane' hit the Top 40 playlist. Then in 1971, John Denver's recording of 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' shot to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and captured the world's imagination. During his nearly three decades of being in the pop-music limelight, Denver ascended to international prominence with his prolific, tuneful output about the joys of nature, his disdain for big-city life, his dedication to ecology, his deep love of music and his relationship ups and downs. After sales of 33 million records, including 4 platinum and 12 gold albums, John Denver's place in recording history is rock-solid. I am proud and excited about bringing you an hour of his sonic legacy in hopes that you will smile a lot and, of course, sing along with this Troubadour. Peace."
