Nordic Totemism: Traditional Animal Kinship in Northern Europe:
Kinship with other-than-humans is a way for Animist traditions to inscribe human culture and community into the transformations and natural processes of the land. It is a way of learning the law of the land. This is also the case in Nordic Animism. This lecture gives a general presentation of animal kinship and presents some examples, Stork, Bear, Cat, Seal, Elder and Raven.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen is Historian of Religion, Ph.d from Uppsala University in Sweden. He is working as a public intellectual trying to retrieve forward rejected North European traditional knowledge and animism in order to open the possibility of landconnectivity and ancestrality for contemporary euro-descended people.
