The Westport Active Retirement Artist Group has been in motion for the best part of a decade; we consist of ten members and are guided by local artist Pat Tracy. We typically meet on a Thursday and create paintings. There is never a theme involved; we self-guide ourselves by painting something that captures our imagination and makes us curious to experiment. Each piece represents the individuality of each artist and the narrative we wish to portray; in essence, each artwork you view tells its own story.
What started out as a reason to socialise has developed into an experience that has enriched our lives and become such a revered part of our week. Our meetings has formed a bond over the power of Art, strengthened friendships and evolved into a sense of connection. We hope that this exhibition will exhibit the idea that it is never too late to create, explore and try something new. Our experiences, perceptions and opinions expand and grow over the years; what better way to express this?
