About this Event

This is a special event collaboratively presented by the Connecticut Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, Blau House & Gardens, and Wakeman Town Farm.

My 40 Years Amongst the Rhododendrons!

Kevin Wilcox loves imparting his wealth of experience to all who value rhododendrons (and azaleas) and wants to know more! The presentation breaks into three parts, starting with an overview of the 5 classical subdivisions of the genus Rhododendron, followed by a detailed approach to growing healthy rhodies (emphasizing planting, pruning, fertilizing, and watering), and wrapping up with a set of colorful images of the best rhododendrons to grow in your Connecticut gardens.

Kevin Wilcox: is a horticulturist with over 40 years’ experience in growing hardy trees, shrubs, and rhododendrons in Connecticut. An accomplished and sought-after lecturer, he has presented to plant societies and garden clubs on a wide range of gardening topics as well as specific groups of plants, including rhododendrons, Japanese maples, and conifers. He has served 3 times on the Board of Directors for the CT Horticultural Society and is at present the VP of the CT Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society.
