About the event

JUNE 21, 2025: Dapp, AB - Farm Tour and Regenerative Agriculture 101 with Triple Lyoness Farm
Join us for a day of learning, good food, and community building!

At this event, you’ll get a chance to learn about the basics of regenerative agriculture and see firsthand how Triple Lyoness Farm weaves together multiple aspects of regenerative farming — from a mixed livestock operation to productive vegetable gardens to a riparian area protection project.

We’re excited to be joined by Sierra Berg from Rural Routes to Climate Solutions, who will lead with an engaging talk that provides an overview of regenerative agriculture. You'll learn how climate solutions not only build resilience and protect biodiversity but also open up new opportunities for rural communities.

After learning about the basics of regenerative agriculture, we'll go on a walking tour of Triple Lyoness Farm to see how regenerative principles can be applied in the Alberta context. Triple Lyoness Farm is a family-run, mixed-livestock operation rooted in diversity, care, and regenerative practices. The Carlyon family — Rod, Janet, and their three daughters, Andria, Jessica, and Briana — proudly raise pasture-raised beef, chicken, turkey, free-range pork, and eggs while maintaining a vibrant farm ecosystem.

After the farm tour we'll enjoy a potluck lunch. Bring a dish to share and enjoy a meal together in the fresh country air!

For the afternoon portion we will drive about 10 miles to the Riparian Area Protection Project to learn about how farms can steward and be a part of the ecosystems around them. You'll learn about ways to protect areas around water bodies and how to determine the health of those ecosystems.

Bring your curiosity and your regenerative farming questions!

This farm event is for you if you are:

- interested in and passionate about farming and food production,
- a farmer interested in seeing regenerative agriculture in action,
- a consumer curious about where your food comes from

About Triple Lyoness Farms

Triple Lyoness Farm is family run and operated by the three Carlyon daughters; Andria, Jessica, Briana, and their parents; Rod and Janet Carlyon. They created the name Triple Lyoness to represent the three Carlyon daughters. Their family is proud to produce pastured raised beef, chicken and turkey and free range pork and eggs.

Together, they maintain a small rural farming business that is not specialized in one area of agriculture. Instead, they choose to be diverse and have many different means of production. As the main operators, Rod and Janet are the core to a successful enterprise providing constant care to the animals, record keeping, and labour. The three daughters have contributed in many ways on the farm throughout their life and continue to immerse themselves in the agriculture industry while helping with large tasks on the farm and marketing meat products.

About Sierra Berg

Sierra, her husband and their kids are first-generation ranchers in West Central Alberta. With each year, her and her family are dedicated to the continuous, holistic growth of their operation. Her passion for livestock and land stewardship developed during her late teens and was further cultivated while working alongside her husband on several large ranching operations across Alberta.

In late 2019, she and her family established their own ranch. Starting with a small flock of sheep, they've embraced niche marketing for their wool and implemented intensive rotational grazing with livestock guardians and working stock dogs. This sheep operation has also facilitated the growth of their cow herd. Sierra is dedicated to ensuring the longevity of farms and ranches, with a commitment to leaving the land better than it was found.

About Rural Routes to Climate Solutions

Rural Routes to Climate Solutions is an Alberta-based organization with a mission to support rural communities in climate solutions awareness, engagement and implementation in order to foster resilient and thriving social, economic and environmental natural ecosystems. Through learning resources, social innovation labs, producer-led projects and partnerships, RR2CS is working with Albertans to embrace practices that are good for the farm and the climate.

Two main and participant-driven projects under RR2CS:
The Regenerative Agriculture Lab (RAL) is using social innovation methodology to create a collaborative platform for those along the agri-food value chain (e.g. farmers, researchers, food retailers) to incubate, test and explore ideas, initiatives, policies and programs that can accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture in Alberta.
The Siksikaitsitapi Agriculture Project (SAP) empowers Siksikaitsitapi members by providing a platform for them to explore and identify which climate solutions align with Blackfoot culture and ways of knowing. Using a culture-specific model of engagement, project activities are delivered with the appropriate cultural lens, to further a Nation-to-Nation relationship and to honour the spirit and intent of Truth and Reconciliation.

This public event is part of the Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program (YAAP). The program matches energetic new entrants with paid opportunities on farms. These farms are committed to helping train the next generation of farmers and ranchers. Farmers and apprentices participating in the program are invited to learn more about agriculture through networking and community building events like this one.
