Hey cuties,
West Plains Pride went pretty dark for a while there. We spent the time having conversations and taking care of ourselves, putting our oxygen masks on, so to speak.
We have been planning since May to have a conversation, a mediated one with the community, to allow everyone to put their cards on the table and be heard, but also to set how we will go forward with this organization. We understand that true accountability work is done not just in the hard conversations, but in once those conversations are had, doing the work, and we have much work to do.
Join us Saturday, September 20th at 10:30am to 12:30pm at the West Plains Public Library Community Room.
We will be bringing in Emilia Stauffer as a third party mediator, and AJ Hackworth as a community liaison mediator.
What needs to be said so we can move forward? What do you want the future of West Plains Pride to look like? How are you reaching across the table of our own community to find common ground and joy to build on?
Attached are our revised values. We have short and long versions, and we ask again for community input.
We are hosting this conversation one time because we believe in our community. If subsequent conversations are needed, we will be at the table, but we need you to take ownership. We have much work to do, that you have asked us to do, and we want to participate in any dialogue that happens --- and we are actively working on how to make safer space for our community in the long term.
