To ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween, follow these trick-or-treat safety tips:
Please make sure costumes are flame-retardant and that your child has clear vision if wearing a mask.
When using makeup, watch for allergic reactions and make sure you do not use makeup too close to the eyes.
Always accompany young children while trick-or-treating.
Use reflective costumes or accessories to increase visibility.
Stick to well-lit streets and avoid dark or isolated areas.
Check candy for any signs of tampering before consumption.
Teach children to look both ways before crossing the street.
Avoid distractions like phones while walking to stay alert.
Residents: If you'd like to welcome the mummers to your home, please turn on a porch light or open the door. Youngsters will accept the treat and not enter your home. Make your home look welcoming by offering treats.
This year's event will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The parade marks the start of the trick-or-treat fun. The line-up will be located at West Newton Elementary School and will proceed down Vine Street to the West Newton Gym, where the West Newton Lions and other organizations will hand out treats. Please do not liter, dispose or water bottles or orange drink cartons in trash bins in the gym. The parade will begin at 1:00 PM sharp and trick or treat will begin after the parade concludes till 5:00 PM.
