Pollinator Week - Not just Bees!
We are going on a Pollinator Hunt in the Botanic Gardens!
TWO Special Guided Discovery Walks and Pollinator Display.
Saturday November 15 > 10am - 2pm.
Starting at 10am and 12 noon, join in 2 discovery guided walks, during which we shall leisurely explore with magnifying glasses and cameras to find out which creatures are visiting a variety of flowering plants.
After each walk… Check out the POLLINATOR DISPLAY.
See up close an assortment of insect specimens - including Native Bees, Flies, Ladybird Beetles and other Beetles, Bugs, Native Wasps, Butterflies, Moths and Skippers as well as posters, reference and story books in the air-conditioned comfort of the MRBG Meeting room. Refreshments available too.
Relatively little is known about the thousands of native pollinator species in Australia - That’s right, there are more than European Honey Bees or even Native Bees to consider! Pollinators also include native bees, butterflies, moths, wasps, flies, beetles, bugs, birds, bats, small mammals, the odd frog and lizard…
What pollinates Orchids? Dianella? Bottlebrush Flowers? Hibiscus? and many other flowers in bloom in the Botanic Gardens?
