About the event

Discover Social Square Dancing this Fall!
Enjoy 10 weekly lessons in a new dance program at West Kelowna called Social Square Dancing that gets you moving with others in teams of 8 and having fun sooner.

The new program is an ideal social recreation for singles, couples & families (children aged 12 & up).

The square dance activity has evolved to welcome dancers in comfortable, dressy-casual clothing. The music includes pop to country and show tunes to golden oldies. Soft-soled shoes that won't mar the floor are recommended because square dancing is done with a simple shuffle step.

This is the ideal time to learn to square dance because Festival 2026, the 24th Canadian National Square, Round & Clog Dance Convention is slated next year for the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre over July 15 to 18 inclusive. Dancers will be in attendance from across Canada and around the world! You’ve got to experience that!

The larger dance floor at the Shannon Lake school gymnasium will allow for lots of participants, so pre-register and plan to join the fun and laughter!

Note that the intersection at Old Okanagan & Butt Road is closed for construction. Here are a couple of map links showing alternate routes to the school:
