Traditional in-person courses are available to all students and are taught by trained, certified volunteer instructors who meet state and international standards. Volunteer instructors provide valuable information to new hunters including insight into the sport of hunting, resources and support. In-person courses provide students the opportunity to ask questions of instructors and gain further guidance. There is typically no fee to complete a traditional in-person course, although some course hosts require a nominal fee to help cover facility rental or cleaning costs.
This is an in-person courses that requires students to attend all sessions.
Topics to be covered are:
Students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, and must participate in workshop and session activities, bring a survival kit and pass a 50-question exam with a score of at least 70%.
Requirements for attending this class are:
• A Survival Kit. Families may share a kit. the kit must include a pocket knife, fire starting kit, magnetic compass, whistle, water treatment device, a small flashlight, singling device, a large contractor trash bag, food, cordage, first aid supplies, and a space blanket.
• $10.00/ student - Lunch will be provided on 09/13.
• Bring your own water or drinks.
• Bring a pen to take the test and you are welcome to bring latex gloves or anything else to make your experience safe.
Health Requirements:
• If you have a fever or you are not feeling well you cannot attend.
• Families are welcome to sit together.
