KEEP IT MOVING
CI Dances get easily stuck in a spot, movements become smaller and some alivenesses of the dance evaporate without us noticing consciously.
I want to offer skills and practice to keep the dance moving through the space and through all levels. I believe it is a hidden base for the physicality of CI. There is more breath, more spaciousness, more invitations for change … and we can appreciate the moments of stillness more deeply.
This Workshop puts the main focus on CI technique. And I’ll point out where and how we can let go of a technical mind set and drop into the dance, finding the ease to switch gears from a strong physicality to subtle nuances and the freedom to be with whatever emerges.

BIO: Joerg Hassmann
Inspired by contact improvisation for more than 30 years as a way to understand and celebrate the moving body and human communication. Many kinds of sports, release techniques, somatic work, instant composition and creating dance and theater performances have informed his dance and his teaching. For a decade Joerg was involved as the artistic director in the CI festival 'contact-meets-contemporary'. Together with Daniel Werner he developed a systematic approach to Contact Technique that they taught over 12 years in Training Programmes in Berlin and throughout Europe.
His writings under www.joerghassmann.com/blog/ give deeper insights into his passion.
For the past two years Joerg has been living on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and is grateful to have options to share his passion and knowledge around the moving body - locally and in other parts of Australia.
