Sun 8/24/2025 Meet 9am Cedar Bonnet Islande Paddle from Ship Bottom Bay Beach
Address is correct as Ship Bottom and maps to right place, but FB also automatically shows incorrect text as Beach Haven below the entry.
The correct address is:
1300 Bay Terrace, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008
Sun, Aug 24, 2025 join us for a 3-5 hour paddle (elapsed time pending winds and how often we stop for how long) by kayaks, paddleboards, and/or canoes around Cedar Bonnet Island on Manahawkin Bay portion of Barnegat Bay out of Ship Bottom's Bay Beach.
This is the 1st Cedar Bonnet Islands 2025 paddle.
Recreational vessels - 10 footers are OK. Sea kayaks are not required.
This is the 2nd of a series of 2025 paddles on the bay off the Southern half of LBI. This is the 9th years of these Summer Paddles.
Meet and unload at 9:00am on Sun 8/24/2025 at 13th Street and the bay at the Ship Bottom Bay beach. Google address is
1301 Bay Terrace, Ship Bottom, NJ.
Park (free public parking) to the right of the free public restroom (turn right off 13th street on Bay Terrace)
Will depart around 9:30am from the beach and will return 2pm +/- depending on how long we stop for lunch; how the winds are & how long it takes us to paddle sections which are not protected from the winds by Cedar Bonnet Islands; and how many breaks we take.
Normally will determine the direction we will go around the islands when we see what the winds are that morning - clockwise or counter clockwise to protect from and leverage the winds as much as possible. Low
tide is a around 7am so we will not need to worry about hitting the cut thus at low tide and thus can make a decision on direction at paddle time.
Virtually no impact by currents on this paddle route. Please note that low tide, the winds and any potential thunderstorms are the major considerations.
Winds are forecasted S 10-20 mph for Sun. We'll be able to hide from the winds much of be paddle, however for the sections we are exposed, it will take longer than normal and may need additional breaks.
No rain/tstorms forecasted for Sun as of Wed. However, if forecast changes during the week and higher winds and/or thunderstorms become a potential, then pending the possibility % we may need to cut the time of the paddle down (have done this paddle prior with favorable winds & with minimum stop times in 3 hrs) or in worst case reschedule for another day.
Please let me know if you are planning to participate by responding to this event so we can look for you. Many times paddlers get there early and are waiting for me. If we know all are present sooner, we leave sooner. But no issue waiting till the scheduled time. If you are running behind, please please fb message me and call me (609-923-5589) so we can coordinate.
Please bring your pfd (required) with whistle, liquids, lunch/snack and some type of foot covering.
Any paddleboarders are required by the beach patrol to bring their leash in addition to their pfd.
