Have a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Keen to reduce waste and learn practical skills in a friendly, community-focused space?
Join us for a 5-part Sustainable Sewing Series, proudly supported by St George’s Community Share & Care and the Plico Community Fund.
In these monthly hands-on sessions, you’ll learn to confidently use your own sewing machine while creating useful items from secondhand and repurposed materials.
Projects will include things like:
🛍 T-shirt tote bags
👖 Taking up pants
🪡 Japanese mending
🧘♀️ Yoga bolsters
Price: Just $50 per participant.
Requirements: Your own sewing machine (you can often score these quite cheaply from the Lions Shed).
This is a class for adults, but children 14 or over may participate if accompanied by a participating adult.
Dates:
Sessions will be 2 hours, starting at midday (after the Dunsborough Community Repair CoOp) on the last Saturday of the month.

We’re passionate about making sustainability education accessible to everyone, so if cost or lack of sewing machine is a barrier, please get in touch, and we can offer a community funded place for free, no proof required.
