Holy Attention: The Spiritual Discipline of Noticing

To be spiritual is to notice-to see or become conscious of, to spend time taking stock of our inner and outer world.

To notice is holy.

The spirit of God dwells in our noticing, is revealed in our noticing, and comes into deeper union with us in our noticing. Led by Samantha Trolice, Program Manager for Spiritual Formation, this retreat will be grounded in noticing: the silence and the sound, the calm and the chaos, in movement and stillness. We will spend time walking in the woods, along the river, and in the labyrinth, using the full breadth of the retreat center grounds. We'll embrace the opportunity to use our senses, noticing how all are connected-and how our inner landscape is reflected out in the world, mirrored back to us. This will be a spacious retreat, with plenty of movement and ample time to chart our own course.
