Narcan & Know-How: Free Life-Saving Training at the Chamber

In recent years, numbers of opioid overdoses and overdose-related deaths have declined sharply in St. Charles County. Availability of naloxone (more commonly known as Narcan) has saved hundreds of lives in our community, enabling those suffering from substance use disorder the ability to enter a treatment program and work toward recovery. Like CPR, a tourniquet, or an epinephrine pen, Narcan can save a life in the event of a medical emergency.

Narcan is effective, simple to use, and thanks to a federal grant provided to St. Charles County Ambulance District by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is available at no cost to any individual or business who is willing to keep it on-hand.

On August 27, the Chamber will partner with SCCAD to offer a FREE drop-in training session at the Chamber office for anyone would like to keep this life-saving medication available at their place of business or home. If you later use your Narcan or it expires, SCCAD can resupply you at no cost.
