Wellington Train Disaster: Lecture at the Wells House

On March 1, 1910, the deadliest avalanche in North American history swept down the snowy Cascades, burying two trains and killing 96 people.

The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center invites you to the Wellington Train Disaster Lecture & Caravan Tour on May 30-31.

At the historic Wells House on Friday, May 30, at 6:30 PM, Randy Dasho of Port Orchard, WA, will discuss the Great Northern Railroad and recount the events of the 1910 Wellington Disaster. This lecture is free and open to the public. Attendance at the lecture is not required for attendance for the caravan tour. Registration is recommended.

On Saturday, May 31, at 9 AM, join us for a guided caravan tour of the Wellington Site, where patrons will personally commute to the site. At each stop, our expert guide will uncover the storied legacy of the Great Northern Railway Company, visiting several historic sites between Leavenworth and Stevens Pass.
