Wellington Pride Festival is kicking off a series of fundraising screenings with an all time classic.
Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome, im cabaret, au cabaret, to cabaret!
We've only gone and got ahold of the OG movie Cabaret (1972), starring Liza Minnelli, Michael Yorke and Joel Grey, and we'll be screening it in a cabaret-like setting.
There’s nothing more topical than the themes of this movie: Alienation! Sexual freedom! The tension between enjoying the moment while facing the jackboot! It’s camp, it’s musical, and it’s Liza absolutely cooking!
Choose a VIP cabaret table seat (each table seats up to 3) or a buy a stool near the bar. The bar will be open to purchase decadent prosecco or steins of bier and we will be passing around the pretzels. We'll have captions on for our neurodivergent and Deaf/hard of hearing friends, and there will be an intermission. Special guests and other reveals to be announced!
All proceeds go towards putting on the Wellington Pride Festival. Follow our socials or sign up to our newsletter for details of future screenings at locations around the city.
Doors open at 5.30pm, the screening begins at 6.30pm. Tickets $25 for VIP seating, including a WPF wristband, or $15 for a barstool. R18.
Accessibility:
- The screening will have closed captions
- Ivy Bar is down stairs. It is wheelchair accessible via prior arrangement, so if that's you, please flick us a message and we'll make sure you can get in and have a great view.
- Bathrooms are gender-neutral
Life is a cabaret, old chum, come to the cabaret!
