We are all Palestine Action: March to protect protest

*Note - we recommend wearing a mask at this protest for health reasons and for immigration reasons, particularly if you are British and/or hoping to travel to the UK. We will have some masks available.*

Join Justice for Palestine and Peace Action Wellington for a march and rally in solidarity with UK group Palestine Action and to uphold our rights to protest. We will gather in solidarity outside the UK High Commission on Hill Street and then march to Police National Headquarters on Molesworth Street.

In the UK, peaceful protest is being shut down by a government actively complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. The UK government has labelled the peaceful protest group Palestine Action as “terrorists” and are arresting anyone who says that they support them. They are determined to shut down opposition to Israel’s genocide using extreme repression. Police have already arrested over 100 ordinary people including members for doing nothing more than carrying a sign or holding a banner.

At least 500 demonstrators are preparing to sit in London for 60 minutes or “until arrest” on August 9 while holding signs which state: “I oppose Genocide. I support Palestine Action.”

Here in Aotearoa NZ the Ministry of Justice has been engaged in a behind-the-scenes consultation of the Terrorism Suppression Act to significantly expand the law and to follow the UK approach. We will not allow for attacks on our rights to freedom of expression and peaceful protest.

Join us to oppose genocide. Join us to stand for a Free Palestine. Join us to stand with Palestine Action. Join us to protect protest.
