The Wellington Mingus Ensemble

The Wellington Mingus Ensemble is a unique and powerful all-star jazz orchestra dedicated to paying tribute to the music of Charles Mingus, one of the most notable composers of the 20th century and a revered icon of Black American Music, blues, improvisation, and art.

Disarmingly charismatic melodies meet dense impressionistic orchestration and deep raging blues language in a tribute to some of the most stunning music of the last century.

Put on by Capital Blues NZ, located in the jazz basement bar at Jack Hacketts.
