Here's a bit of my recent life story :
As many of you will know, my wonderful co-Kaiwhakahaere Ellie Clayton recently wrapped up her mahi at the Centre to take on a new role as Farm Manager at Kaicycle. At the same time as we were saying goodbye to Ellie and recruiting for her role, a long-held dream of mine was starting to take shape – the dream of buying a paddock with some friends and living more rurally in Whanganui (complete with pigs, goats, and good people).
Step one was finding a fab job – I’m taking up a small fixed term role of leading Kai Hub. Kaihub is Whanganui’s community kai rescue and redistribution initiative. Kaihub saves good food from going to waste and gets it to people who need it – but recently - they've been facing closure. My first step is to improve the financial sustainability of the organisation and turn the small contract into a full time dream job! I back myself and the awesome impact this amazing organisation makes - so Irekon we can do it!
If you wanna support me, Kaihub & this journey - you're welcome to buy tickets to a fundraising movie "JUST EAT IT!" 👉

It’s a bittersweet goodbye. I’ve loved my journey here – from seeing our programmes grow and evolve, to the massive renovation that’s helped us support our community even better. But most of all, I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built with the amazing folks who make up this vibrant place. I LOVE NEWTOWN SO MUCH!
The good news is: while recruiting for Ellie’s role, we also found someone for mine!
Both Ellie and I are relieved to be handing over to the incredibly capable and kind Anna and Edie - I’m a little bit sad I don’t get to work with them (they're awesome!), they will be supported and backed by our amazing board and team so the Centre is in good hands!
Come hang out, eat soup, say goodbye to me and Kia ora to Edie and Anna!
