Brace yourselves for the mini fest of Winter 2025.
Wellington’s stubborn driven indie-rocker’s, Dateline, are putting on one final show this year in a desperate effort to fundraise some money to get themselves on tour in September/October.
Since 2018 Dateline has existed in different iterations while bandleader Katie Everingham was located in different parts of Aotearoa. Settling in Te Whanganui-a-tara in 2022 gave Everingham the opportunity to grow Dateline into a well-oiled and rehearsed creative machine alongside musical geniuses Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa, Phoebe Johnson and Reuben McDonald. Refining their song writing and live performance has helped the band produce an incredible and energetic live show that is ready to be taken on the road.
After being invited to support The Beths on tour through the UK, parts of Europe and Scandinavia the band knew that they had to grab the opportunity by the proverbial horns. They have most of the ingredients to make the experience happen and fruitful, bar one, money. Despite this they said yes to the invite and are now figuring out how to make the dream a reality.
The conundrum of how to fund the international 25 date tour led to the decision to frantically arrange a fundraising extravaganza at Meow Nui, thrown together in one month with minimal planning or time to adequately promote the gig! Fantastic! Due to the love and support of a lot of local legends who have volunteered themselves to participate, the fundraising scheme has morphed from a desperate idea into a desperate reality. Come along for one of the best evenings of entertainment you’ll witness all August.
As well as showcasing the songs they’ll be taking on the road, Dateline will be joined by talented musical acts such as Wiri Donna, French For Rabbits, Wellington's favourite saxophone playing tree - Woody, Dateband, Flute Journeys and Ladyhawke (DJ set). There will also be compelling performances from dance troupe BTD bitches and performance artists Twin Snag. This will be a night to remember.
Please for the love of god, buy a ticket, invite everyone you know and come to the show so I, I mean, Katie doesn’t bankrupt herself desperately clinging to the hopes of being a sometimes-touring musician.
Tickets available at Ticketek
