INTRODUCTION TO SEWING FOR ADULTS

This workshop is designed to be taken as a series of 3 x 2 hours sessions.
In Part 1 you will learn how a sewing machine works, how to use it and what all the feet and accessories are for. This session will include types of seams, gathering, topstitching & buttonholes. You will make a mat for your machine in this session.
Part 2 covers sewing and pattern terminology; fabric, notions, and tool selection. You will make a tote bag and handle;
Part 3 covers zipper insertion, and we will make a zipper case to store and carry your sewing tools.
These workshops cover plenty of theoretical information, as well as giving you some practical experience to get you started on your sewing journey.
The class fee is $180 for the three-part series. This includes tuition, class notes, fabrics and notions used in the class.
BYO: Sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal and machine accessories, a basic sewing kit including, bobbins, threads, scissors, tape measure. pins etc.
**If you need advice or assistance in gathering supplies or purchasing a sewing machine, please don’t hesitate to ask for help when you book. There some basic tools and supplies available for purchase in the shop. We also have one or two sewing machines available for use in store if you have not yet purchased your own.
