Get ready for Aotearoa’s wildest weekend of filmmaking — Vista Foundation 48Hours is back for 2025!
It's very simple; filmmakers have just one weekend to make a short film.
Filmmakers don't know what genre (thriller/romance etc.) they will be shooting until the start of the competition. All creativity - writing, shooting, editing, a soundtrack, VFX and titles - occurs within the 48Hour window beginning Friday evening at 7pm and ending Sunday at 7pm. To add to the mayhem, teams must also include random assigned elements. In previous years, these elements have included lines of dialogue, props, characters and special camera moves. This year - who knows?
We are incredibly excited to see the films created filmmakers create over the shoot weekend!

Earlybird registration period: 16th June to 18th July 2025
Normal registration period: 19th July - 13th August
School Teams: 2 for 1 entry.
Tertiary Teams: 1/2 price entry fees.
Mark it in your calendar, rally your teammates, create some wacky props and line up a great location so we can make 2025 another spectacular year!
