Brian is a Professor of Art at West Liberty University where he served as Chair of the

"To wander, to observe life, and to capture the moments and ideas that resonate is a standard practice for many artists. My representational work fundamentally serves
as a demonstration of skill, a map of artistic decision-making, and a reflection of my personal experiences. Art acts as a repository for these experiences, speaking to how we connect with one another. When my work succeeds, it reveals our shared insights and attitudes about life. Representational painting invites the viewer to wander along a shared path, in this case exploring humble objects with flowers in innovative compositions.
My "Strange Vase" series is a tribute to my grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease in the 1980s. The first sign of her cognitive decline was her habit of placing groceries in unexpected places, like meat in the bread drawer or flowers in non-traditional containers. This series is my way of making sense of the suffering caused by Alzheimer’s, and it serves as a heartfelt homage to her."
